    Hello Sara,
I am reading your book “Take This Bread” right now, and it’s challenging me pretty deeply right now. A year ago, I read “Irresistible Revolution” by Shane Claiborne which shook me to the core and caused me to reconsider whether my idea of church and Christianity were as right as I thought it was. Your book is having a very similar effect, and seeing what is resulting from your experience through the food pantry is incredibly inspiring.

The one thing that I can’t get over in my own life is not knowing where to start. I grew up in a small suburb where there was minimal poverty, and now work in a city where I see it every day. I am a former worship pastor, and while I believe the church I was at was and is doing incredible stuff reaching out to those who don’t go to church, it wasn’t connecting with these new thoughts books such Shane’s and yours are causing me to have.

Anyway, sorry to go on and on. I just want you to know that I think what you are doing in San Francisco is absolutely incredible. I can’t wait to finish the book (I’m on page 100) to see the journey you took to get there.

    Take care,
    Pat
